1. About Bassist

Bassist is a practice companion designed to help bass guitar players improve technique, timing, dexterity, rhythm, consistency, and overall musicianship through structured practice workouts. Unlike many mobile applications, Bassist is designed to operate primarily without requiring cloud storage or user accounts.

2. Information We Collect

The current version of Bassist does not require users to create an account or provide personally identifiable information in order to use the App.

To provide its functionality, the App stores certain information locally on your device, including:

• Practice history
• Workout progress
• Practice statistics
• Streak counts
• Achievement badges and milestones
• User preferences and settings
• Profile customisations (such as display name and avatar)

This information is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

3. Personal Information

Bassist does not intentionally collect or store personal information such as:

• Name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Postal address
• Government-issued identification
• Payment information
• Contacts
• Photos
• Precise location data

The App may be used without creating an online account.

4. Device Permissions

Bassist requests only those permissions necessary to provide features that you choose to use.

Notifications

Notification permission is used solely to schedule local practice reminders configured by you. Reminder schedules remain on your device and are not transmitted externally.

File Access

When you choose to export or restore your practice progress, Bassist may request access to your device's file system. This permission is used exclusively to import or export backup files that you explicitly initiate.

Internet Access

The App includes standard Android internet permission required for WebView functionality, loading application assets, software updates, and supporting future online features. Internet access is not currently used to upload your practice history or collect personal information.

5. Data Storage

Your practice information is stored locally on your device using local storage technologies. We do not maintain cloud backups of your practice data. You remain in control of your information at all times.

6. Third-Party Services, Analytics and Advertising

The current version of Bassist does not include:

• Advertising SDKs
• Behavioural tracking technologies
• Analytics platforms
• Marketing SDKs

Examples include, but are not limited to Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar services.

Future versions of Bassist may introduce optional services such as analytics, crash reporting, advertising, subscriptions, or cloud-based features to improve the App and support its continued development. If such services are introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated before they become available.

7. Google Play Services

Bassist is distributed through Google Play. Certain platform services provided by Google, such as app installation, updates, licensing verification, Play Integrity, crash diagnostics, billing, or other Google Play infrastructure, may process limited technical information as part of Google's operation of the Android ecosystem. Such processing is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy and terms.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal information. At the time this Privacy Policy becomes effective, Bassist does not share user information with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing partners because the App does not currently include advertising or analytics services.

9. Data Retention

Because your practice information is stored locally on your device, it remains available until you choose to remove it. You may delete your information at any time by clearing your practice history within the App, resetting storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the App.

10. Your Rights

Since Bassist currently stores your practice information locally on your own device and does not maintain user accounts or cloud databases, you generally control your information directly through the App and your device settings.

11. Children's Privacy

Bassist is intended for a general audience and may be used by individuals of all ages. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

12. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information processed by the App. One of the primary security measures employed by Bassist is its offline-first architecture, which minimises the need to transmit user information over the internet.

13. International Users

Bassist may be downloaded and used worldwide. If future versions introduce online services that process information outside your country of residence, we will take reasonable steps to ensure such processing complies with applicable privacy laws.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in App functionality, legal requirements, security practices, or third-party service integrations. When material changes are made, we will publish an updated version with a revised Effective Date.
